Terms of Service

Effective September 15, 2026

These Terms of Service are a legal agreement between you and Sage, doing business as Sage ("Sage," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your access to and use of the Sage website, web application, AI-assisted learning tools, subscription plans, credits, team features, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account, purchasing a plan or credits, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use Sage. By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 13 and that the information you provide is accurate.

Users under 18 may create their own accounts. A parent or legal guardian should review these Terms with a minor user. Where applicable law requires parental authorization, Sage may require it before permitting continued use.

You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for activity under your account. You must notify Sage promptly at sage.expert@gmail.com if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

You may not create an account for a person under 13 unless Sage has implemented and expressly authorized a legally compliant school or parental-consent process.

2. The Sage Service

Sage provides AI-assisted educational tools intended to help users understand assignments, practice concepts, develop study materials, and improve learning. Features may include text input, image capture or upload, AI-generated explanations, guided problem solving, writing support, flashcards, progress tracking, saved history, credits, subscriptions, and team accounts.

Sage may add, remove, modify, limit, or discontinue features. We will provide notice when a material change affects a paid subscription where reasonably practicable.

3. Educational Use and Academic Integrity

Sage is a learning aid, not a substitute for a teacher, textbook, licensed professional, or the user's own work. Users remain responsible for understanding and following their school's rules, course policies, honor code, and assignment instructions.

You may not use Sage to cheat, impersonate another student, complete a prohibited exam, evade proctoring, fabricate research, falsify citations, or submit AI-generated work as your own when doing so violates an academic rule.

4. AI Output

AI output may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, biased, or inappropriate for a specific assignment. You must independently verify important facts, calculations, citations, and conclusions.

Sage does not provide medical, legal, financial, mental-health, emergency, or other licensed professional advice. If a prompt concerns a high-stakes topic, the output is general educational information only and must not be relied upon as professional advice.

5. User Content

"User Content" includes prompts, questions, images, homework materials, documents, essays, answers, feedback, and other content submitted through Sage.

You retain ownership of your User Content. You grant Sage a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, copy, transmit, process, display, and otherwise use User Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service, comply with law, and enforce these Terms.

Sage does not currently use User Content to train its own general-purpose AI models. Sage will not begin using identifiable User Content for model training without updating its disclosures and obtaining consent where required.

You represent that you have the right to upload the User Content and that doing so does not violate privacy, copyright, confidentiality, school policy, or other rights.

6. Plans, Credits, and Billing

  • Basic: 10 free credits per month, subject to feature and retention limits.
  • Pro: $12 per month, unless a different price is clearly displayed at checkout.
  • Teams: $8 per seat per month with a minimum of two seats, unless a different price is clearly displayed at checkout.
  • Credit Pack: 100 credits for a one-time payment of $12, unless a different price is clearly displayed at checkout.
  • Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, and may be subject to expiration or plan-specific limits disclosed at purchase. Sage may prevent abusive, fraudulent, automated, or unauthorized credit use.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe and supported payment methods shown at checkout. Sage does not directly store complete payment card numbers.

7. Automatic Renewal and Cancellation

Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period until canceled. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges at the then-current price, plus applicable taxes.

You may cancel at any time through your account settings or by contacting sage.expert@gmail.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period. You will retain paid access until then unless the account is terminated for misconduct or security reasons.

8. Refunds

Except where required by law, all purchases are final and non-refundable, including partial billing periods and unused credits. Sage may issue a refund or credit in its discretion for duplicate charges, unauthorized charges, a verified billing error, or a material failure to provide the purchased Service.

Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot legally be waived.

9. Team Accounts

A Teams subscription permits the primary account holder or authorized administrator to invite and manage additional users. The primary account holder is responsible for seat charges, invitations, access removal, and ensuring invited users are authorized.

A team administrator may be able to view limited account, seat, billing, and usage information. Sage will not provide broad access to a user's private learning content unless that feature is clearly enabled and disclosed.

10. Acceptable Use

You may not use the Service to:

  • violate any law, regulation, school rule, or third-party right;
  • upload unlawful, exploitative, sexually explicit, violent, hateful, harassing, defamatory, or privacy-invasive content;
  • upload malware, scrape the Service, probe security, bypass safeguards, reverse engineer restricted components, or disrupt the Service;
  • share, resell, rent, or transfer account access without authorization;
  • infringe copyright or upload confidential exams, answer keys, or protected materials without permission;
  • generate or facilitate fraud, impersonation, self-harm encouragement, weapons wrongdoing, or other dangerous conduct;
  • use automated systems to exhaust credits, overload the Service, or evade pricing or rate limits;
  • misrepresent AI-generated content, citations, results, identity, or academic authorship.

11. Suspension and Termination

Sage may restrict, suspend, or terminate an account if we reasonably believe the user violated these Terms, created security or legal risk, failed to pay, abused credits, or endangered another person or the Service. Where appropriate, we may provide notice and an opportunity to appeal.

You may delete your account at any time through the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, dispute terms, and payment obligations already incurred.

12. Intellectual Property

The Service, software, design, branding, models, prompts, workflows, documentation, and content provided by Sage are owned by Sage or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service for personal or authorized educational purposes.

Feedback may be used by Sage without restriction or compensation, provided we do not publicly identify you without permission.

13. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third parties, including Base44, OpenAI, Stripe, hosting, security, analytics, communications, and other providers. Their services may be governed by separate terms and privacy practices. Sage is not responsible for third-party services outside its reasonable control.

14. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAGE DISCLAIMS WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, AND ERROR-FREE OPERATION.

SAGE DOES NOT GUARANTEE A PARTICULAR GRADE, LEARNING OUTCOME, ADMISSION RESULT, TEST SCORE, OR ACADEMIC RESULT.

15. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAGE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITY.

SAGE'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO SAGE DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.

16. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Sage and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from claims arising from your unlawful use of the Service, your User Content, or your material violation of these Terms.

17. Disputes, Arbitration, and Class-Action Waiver

Before filing a claim, you and Sage agree to attempt informal resolution for at least 30 days after written notice is sent to sage.expert@gmail.com.

Except for eligible small-claims matters and requests for injunctive relief involving intellectual property or unauthorized access, disputes will be resolved by individual binding arbitration administered under mutually applicable consumer arbitration rules.

YOU AND SAGE WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

Users may opt out of arbitration by sending written notice to sage.expert@gmail.com within 30 days after first accepting these Terms. The notice must include the user's name, account email, and a clear statement opting out.

If this arbitration section is unenforceable for a particular claim, that claim must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, unless applicable consumer law requires otherwise.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer law provides otherwise.

19. Changes

Sage may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will provide reasonable notice through the Service, email, or another appropriate method. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms, except where affirmative consent is required.
